3 Ways to Find Your Community

We’ve been talking a lot lately about the importance of community for personal joy as well as workplace productivity and wellness. Connection is vital to our happiness, and communities provide that sense of connection. Connection makes us more productive as it improves corporate culture by fostering better engagement and workplace satisfaction.

So… here are 3 ways to find your community:

  1. Find communities in the groups you’re already in! If you’re working on a project with someone on your team, make a bit of an extra effort to connect with them and find some common ground. (My favorite personal example… Is one of your coworkers also corgi-obsessed? Swap your favorite corgi Instagram accounts or invite them to your favorite corgi page on Facebook! Find all the dog obsessed people and swap your favorite dog pages. Once people know how much you love something, maybe they’ll think of you when they see a post on their feed and send it your way!) See if it’s possible for your team to do a [virtual] check in and happy hour once a week, or maybe even a remote Drunk Yoga class for some team building, too ;) Or, if you’re a free-lancer or remote worker, find a coworking space! A lot of them are moving to virtual right now because of the coronavirus. They offer lots of perks like community building events, networking events, and slack channels! KettleSpace (not sponsored, just been following them for a bit!) has currently paused paid memberships, and virtual membership is free and includes those  virtual perks, like happy hours and meditations.

  2. Look into activity or interest-based groups that meet regularly – and for now, virtually – for an activity that you are interested in. That way you will be doing something you love and stay true to who you are while also creating bonds with people who are like minded and have similar interests! Some examples are book clubs, paint nights, cooking clubs, etc... you can turn all of these virtual, too! And if going to new events alone is hard for you, you can bring a friend! Drunk Yoga values inclusivity and community by welcoming all students and being a judgement free zone. Our unique yoga experiences are designed to be social and interactive. So if you’re looking for an inclusive yoga community... look no further!

  3. Find remote communities on the internet! These aren’t limited geographically and you will find people based on common interest (such as a professional or career interest, a hobby, a cultural background, etc) or supporting a cause that you care about.

We’re always looking for new ways to support our members. If you have any questions, concerns, or more ideas on how to find community, reach out to info@dodrunkyoga.com and someone from our Spirit(s)-Lifting team will get right back to you.

Cheers!

Nikki
